Golf in Schools Program
Camelot Golf and Country Club is pleased to partner with Golf Canada and be part of the “Get Linked” initiative delivered by the Future Links, Driven by Honda programs. It is designed to help grow the game of golf and introduce kids to our wonderful sport and encourages them to develop a passion for the game. Our GOLF IN SCHOOLS partners are Sainte-Trinité Elementary School in Rockland, St Peter Catholic High School and Cairine Wilson Secondary School in Orleans and our newest partner, Ashbury College in Ottawa.
Camelot has donated the GOLF IN SCHOOLS kit which includes special clubs and other equipment (age appropriate) to each of the schools. The GOLF IN SCHOOLS curriculum was developed by Golf Canada in partnership with the PGA of Canada and Physical and Health Education Canada (PHE Canada). It not only includes learning the proper techniques for participating in the game of golf but also integrating valuable life skills such as perseverance, focus, honesty and sportsmanship. Two components of the program are In School Visits by our golf professionals to assist with the delivery of the lessons by our partner teachers and Field Trips by some of the students to our golf course, so they have the opportunity to see an actual “green grass facility” and try out our extensive practice areas. So, if you happen to see a big yellow school bus pull up to our clubhouse one day this summer and lots of young people learning to drive, chip or putt on our practice areas please welcome them and know that you and your club are helping to grow the game.
